You Don't Know Bupkis

Did you know that the literal translation of bupkis (also spelled “bubkes”) is “goat droppings”.  Now you do.

Stanton Moore - Poison Pushy

I saw the Stanton Moore Trio last night at Yoshi’s SF.  It was my first show at the new Yoshi’s.  The old Yoshi’s is just over the bridge in Oakland, but I rarely motivated to make the trek out there.  I’m psyched that the new location is so close to home.

Davey Dance Blog - 3 Is The Magic Number

I’m certain that I will never grow tired of the Davey Dance Blog (via fishel).

Forecast: Sun!
It’s shaping up to be an unusually warm week here in the Bay Area.  Let’s hope it holds through the weekend (via Weather.com)
PS. Weather is one of the most popular verticals on the web (25M unique visitors a month at Weather.com), yet all the weather sites are lame.  Anyone want to work on Weather 2.0 as a side project with me?

Automatically Pausing iTunes From Firefox?

You know how the iPhone automatically pauses the music you’re listening to when a call comes in?  I want a feature like that for my browser.  Throughout the day, I’ll be listening to music and browsing the web.  I click on a video or a link that initiates some sort of audio and I have to flip into iTunes to pause my music in order to hear the conflicting sound.  I want my browser to do that for me.  Is there some sort of plug-in for Firefox that does this?  There should be.

I wondered if the pipes could be turned into giant flutes, and if a machine could make some of the girders vibrate and produce tones. After thinking about how girders vibrate when a truck or a train goes over a metal bridge, it seemed just a matter of working out the mechanics of playing a building.

John Frusciante - Murderers

Frusciante is probably best known as the guitarist for the Chili Peppers.  For this solo effort, he’s responsible for everything you hear… truly a solo album.

Twitter: Are You Old School?

Are you an old school or new school Twitter user?  Twitter user ID’s appear to be assigned sequentially, meaning a lower number indicates that the user joined the service relatively early.  To find your user ID, visit your timeline on Twitter, click the RSS feed link, and look for a number in the URL.  For example, my feed uses this URL:

http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/917.atom

So, I was the 917th person to create an account on Twitter (back in October 2006 when it was called Twttr.com).

What’s your number?
