Mapping The Nation’s Well-Being
Gallup calls 1,000 random people every day and asks them a few survey questions regarding quality of life. The NY Times summarized the 2010 results as an interactive map of the country’s well-being. Shown here are the responses to the question “Did you experience feelings of happiness during a lot of the day yesterday?” Apparently, people in the middle of the country are generally happier. Also, the West Coast exercises more than the East Coast, people in the South are fat, and if you live anywhere other than the North East, there’s a good chance you don’t have insurance. Interesting!

Last.fm Favorites on SoundCloud
I wanted a way to quickly find some bands to follow on SoundCloud, so I just threw together this little app that searches for SoundCloud bands based on your favorite artists from Last.fm. The app is a bit temperamental and slow, but it managed to find a bunch of good matches for me, so I thought I’d share it. If you’re a Last.fm user, just visit the Last.fm Favorites on SoundCloud page, enter your Last.fm user name, and click “Run Pipe” for a personalized list of artists to follow on SoundCloud.
