Bandcamp Screencast

This looks awesome.  Ethan Diamond, former founder of Oddpost (acquired by Yahoo!), just launched a publishing platform for musicians called Bandcamp.  A few months ago I commented on my friend Beach’s blog saying there should be a web product that’s basically Wordpress for musicians.  I’m sure it’s an idea many people have had, but Ethan and his team seem to have built a really cool version.  This first release includes basics like song / cover art upload, simple site design templates, and MP3 ecommerce functionality.  More interestingly, the beta has some really impressive features like audio visualizations, customized embeddable widgets, and sophisticated reporting tools for artists to track fan activity.  It may not have all the bells and whistles that a huge star would want, but it looks like a killer app for emerging bands.  Really well done.
